How to Edit Listbox Values in In-Page Contact Forms

This article explains how to modify the available options (values) of a Listbox field used in an in-page contact form in LiveAgent, and clarifies the current limitations introduced in version 5.59.

Overview

Listbox fields in LiveAgent contact forms are based on globally defined Ticket Fields or Contact Fields. When you need to change the selectable values of a Listbox, you do not edit them directly within the form itself — instead, you must edit the underlying field definition in the system configuration.

How to Edit Listbox Values

To change the values (options) available in a Listbox field used in your in-page form, follow these steps:

For Ticket Fields

1. Log in to your LiveAgent account as an administrator.
2. Navigate to Configuration > System > Ticket Fields.
3. Locate the Listbox field you want to edit and click on it.
4. Add, edit, or remove the Listbox values as needed.
5. Save your changes.

For Contact Fields

1. Log in to your LiveAgent account as an administrator.
2. Navigate to Configuration > System > Contact Fields.
3. Locate the Listbox field you want to edit and click on it.
4. Add, edit, or remove the Listbox values as needed.
5. Save your changes.

Changes made here will be reflected automatically wherever that field is used, including in your in-page contact forms.

Limitations Since Version 5.59

As of the field refactoring introduced in LiveAgent version 5.59, it is no longer possible to directly modify Listbox options within an existing form. All Listbox value management must be done through the global Ticket Fields or Contact Fields configuration (as described above).

Using Different Listbox Options in Different Forms (e.g., Multiple Languages)

If you need the same type of Listbox field to display different options — for example, to show translated values in a form for a different language — you will need to create a new, separate field with the desired Listbox values.

• Go to Configuration > System > Ticket Fields or Configuration > System > Contact Fields.
• Create a new field of type Listbox and define the required values.
• Add this new field to the relevant form.

Native support for language-specific Listbox translations within a single field is planned for a future LiveAgent release.
