How to Edit Listbox Values in In-Page Contact Forms
This article explains how to modify or update the values (options) of a Listbox field used in an in-page contact form in LiveAgent. It also covers current limitations introduced in version 5.59 and how to handle use cases such as different language variants.
Overview
In LiveAgent, Listbox fields used in in-page contact forms are defined centrally as Ticket Fields or Contact Fields. You do not edit the Listbox options directly within the form itself — instead, you manage them from the global field definitions in the Configuration section.
How to Edit Listbox Values
To change the values (options) of a Listbox field, navigate to the appropriate field definition:
For Ticket Fields
- Go to Configuration > System > Ticket Fields.
- Locate the Listbox field you want to edit.
- Click on the field to open its settings.
- Modify the Listbox values as needed.
- Save your changes.
For Contact Fields
- Go to Configuration > System > Contact Fields.
- Locate the Listbox field you want to edit.
- Click on the field to open its settings.
- Modify the Listbox values as needed.
- Save your changes.
Changes made to the field definition will be reflected wherever that field is used, including in-page contact forms.
Known Limitation Since Version 5.59
As of the field refactoring introduced in LiveAgent version 5.59, it is no longer possible to directly modify Listbox options within an existing form. Listbox values must be managed at the global field definition level (as described above).
- If you need a Listbox with different options — for example, in a different language for a separate form — you will need to create a new field with the desired Listbox values.
- Support for language-specific Listbox options (e.g., translated option labels per form) is planned to be addressed in a future update.
Important Notes
You do not need to delete and recreate a Listbox field just to change its values — use the field definition settings in Configuration > System > Ticket Fields or Configuration > System > Contact Fields instead.
If you use custom fields in contact form widgets or pre-chat forms in chat buttons, it is recommended to test your widgets after making changes to ensure all fields are functioning and populating correctly.
If a field appears to be missing after changes, verify that a definition for it exists under Configuration > System > Ticket Fields.
